Begin and end your day with a high-protein, high fiber and low-carbohydrate breakfast and dinner.
Protein is the nutrient that builds calorie-consuming muscle. Carbohydrates are turned into calories that needs to be break down through the increase of one’s metabolism. During the night, if one takes too much carbohydrates and shortly after goes to bed, the body’s metabolic rates will slow down and resulting in the build up of our fats.

Avoid high-glycemic foods, such as sugar, pasta, white rice, and white flour. The glycemic index rates how fast certain foods turn into glucose (a form of sugar) in the bloodstream. Choosing foods that is low on the glycemic index not only helps to control one’s weight by curbing one’s appetite, it can also help to maintain healthy cholesterol level, maintain a healthy heart and reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

Eat at least three balanced meals each day.
Eating regularly reassures the body that there is plentiful of food. This encourages the body to burn calories. If meals are skipped, the body thinks that you’re in famine and reacts by reducing the metabolism, which makes it difficult to lose weight.

Increase Activity
Most people always think that to increase activity is to have strenuous work outs or running on the treadmill for at least an hour. The fact is that walking around the block every day for 30 to 40 minutes is good enough.

Other activities like walking the dog, mopping the floor, take the stairs instead of the elevator, do your gardening, swimming or even dancing. Doing whatever you can to burn more calories each day can help you to live longer and healthier.

Walking is strongly recommended since it is the most natural and normal activity most people can do. Walking requires little time and no equipment. Everyone can walk at any place at anytime with minimal equipment needs and there is no learning curve. Moreover, walking is safer and there’s less risk of injury for people who are just starting to exercise and at the same time, it helps to build the thigh and calf muscles, where in the long run, it will create less stress on our knees.
