    Prevention Of Osteoporosis Starts Young

High intake of dairy foods like cheese and high protein food in childhood results in healthier and stronger bones in adolescence.

Studies have shown that kids who take at least 2 servings of dairy foods everyday had denser bones than their peers when they reach their teens and eating 5 or more servings of meat or other high protein foods boosted the bone density as well.

There have been mixed results of the studies on effects of calcium supplements and dairy foods but since most of these studies have been relatively short, the results of the studies of dairy’s long term benefits will come most likely from the diets of children for many years.

Children whom were followed since 1987 when they were 3 to 5 years’ old up to 1999 and these study participants who had an average of 2 or more servings of dairy foods during their childhood had higher mineral contents and density in their bones as compared to those who had less. And children who had 4 or more servings of protein source or meat had also denser bones.

It seems to be that dairy and protein have a positive effect with children ending up having denser and larger bones.

The study findings confirms how important is it to have a rich in dairy and protein diet on adolescent bones.

Besides taking dairy and high protein diet, one can consider to take calcium supplement like Bonemate or protein powder supplement like Soy Protein.

Whatever it is, whether in diets or supplements, starts young when it comes to the prevention of osteoporosis.

Osteoporosis is very common specially in old persons. Food supplementation with calcium and magnesium helps a lot to slow down osteoporosis. “;’

      That is right Caroline.

But more importantly is also to see the absorption of calcium by a person like calcium carbonate absorption is definitely slower by chelated calcium, which is combined with amino acids and calcium citrate malate.

    Health Tips

When I was a young boy, my Mum has spent a lot of money on me because I was a sick child and even up till when I was an adult, I was falling sick quite regularly.

It was not until 2002, when I have been exposed to the wonders of nutritional supplements and guess what it did for me, (More …)

Chew Chor Meng Suffers From Muscle Atrophy

A local celebrity in Singapore was quoted as saying that he is suffering from muscle atrophy and in a couple of years, he may be bedridden for the rest of his life because of the muscles breaking down or wasting away.

    What is muscle atrophy?

According to Wikipedia, muscle atrophy is defined as a decrease in the mass of the muscle; it can be a partial or complete wasting away of muscle. When a muscle atrophies, it necessarily becomes weaker, since the ability to exert force is related to mass.

Is it an autoimmune disease where the body itself is breaking down the muscles itself or is it a lack of nutrients that is causing this?

    What do you think?

    Lump Scare

There was a cyst growth on my chest for a couple of months and about a week before I left for my holidays to Western Australia, the small growth that was only 0.5 cm in size suddenly grew to 2 cm big.

I had wanted to see a doctor before I left for my vacation but worried that I might need to be hospitalized for the operation and decided to do it after my vacation.

While I was having my vacation, the lump grew even bigger and I started having scary thoughts that the lump may be malignant.

I have always been telling my female friends to conduct regular breast self examination and here with this lump, I was so afraid that the lump might be cancerous.

However, my Mum told me that I need not be afraid if the lump is painful as the chances of it being a malignant lump is low.

Thinking about it, I am quite thankful to have been consistently having:

Though the above things I am taking cannot guarantee my guarantee prevention of getting cancer lumps, I know that my risk will be reduced and at the same time, the chances of recovering will be much faster.

Don’t wait till it is too late to start working on improving your health.  Start doing something now.  Trust me, you do not want to be scaring yourself when you notice anything unusual with your body.

Why Some Take Longer Time To Recover?

Watching the news few days ago, there were reports that different people who got the same flu bug, some recover very fast but some take longer time to recover.

    Why is that so?

It is mainly because of the person’s immunity to fight the flu bug.

If you have been someone who is constantly exercising, eating healthily, drinking clean water and most importantly, taking supplements, the chances of you recovering from any sickness are much faster than those who don’t.

Now why we get sick is mainly because of bacterial or viral infections. Look at it like a war, when we do not have enough weapons or when we have a weaker army, we would succumb to the invasion.

    But…

If you will to do the right things of strengthening your body with what was mentioned above, you will have enough ammunition and stronger army to fight any onset diseases.

That is why some people recover faster than others even when they were exposed to the same sickness.
